Coronavirus: choosing your wedding venue in Melbourne during Covid 19

Coronavirus has sent a big spin to many plans this year. This is a very fluid situation and it’s ever changing but we have put this guide together taking into account the current restrictions as of June 2020. I am sure there will be some changes in the weeks and months to come, but here is a guide to help you navigate these changing times.

Thing you need to know about planning your wedding day with Covid-19

Coronavirus: current restrictions on gatherings for Victoria as of June 2020.

We intend to include the most accurate and current information on this guide, to be able to guide you making your choice during these challenging times. The best place to keep up to date in regards to restrictions is the Department of Health Services (DHS). During the current restrictions you are allowed to:

  • Have gatherings of up to 20 people in your home, a public space or outside.

  • You can also attend gatherings of up to 20 people

While planning your wedding day, under the current restrictions, you will have to take into account your wedding vendors like your photographer (aka moi!) and your celebrant, and don’t forget to also count yourself and your partner. As the months go past and the restrictions ease a bit, we will be allowed to host bigger and bigger groups, but until there is a vaccine, we will still need to take into account the 4 square metre per person rule. You will also need to remember to record everyone’s details like phone number and emails including the staff members of the venue on the night of your weddings.

Wedding venues in Victoria with a rustic feel that are 200 square meters and above:

  • Scrub Hill 1869: This wedding venue is located one hour drive from Melbourne, between Daylesford and Ballarat in Victoria. This venue used to be a church, but it has now been converted and it has the capability to do both: host your ceremony and your reception. With the option to host an outdoor dinner this has to be a great option if you are considering an outdoor sit-down meal, especially for the warmer months around September onwards.

  • Kinglake Forest Adventure: Do you love the outdoors? Well me too! For those of you that would love to try something different, then this unusual venue is all kinds of amazing.

  • The Burrow: Located on the way to Daylesford, this is a great option if you are looking to add a forest feel to your wedding day. This venue offers both indoor and outdoor options for your day, making it versatile and you will be able to comply with the Covid restrictions.
