How do I get married at the Melbourne registry office?

If you are planning to have your wedding ceremony at the Melbourne registry office you will have to make an appointment. To be able to get married in the state of Victoria you will have to be:

  • Over 18 years old and you can’t be married to someone else at the time of your ceremony and you can’t marry at close relative.

  • You will have to lodge your Intend to get married one month prior to the intended date of your ceremony.

  • Your ceremony will have to be conducted by a celebrant from the Marriage registry office.

  • Your ceremony format is very flexible but there will be some key statements to follow

  • You will need two witnesses that are over 18 years old, to attend your ceremony and to sign your wedding registry documents.

Room viewings: 12:30–1:30pm every Thursday (excluding public holidays).
