What is the best time of day to get married? | A perspective from a Melbourne wedding photographer

One of the things you need to consider is : Outdoors or Indoors?

The Best Time for your Australian Beach wedding:

  1. Sunrise wedding: Be the one to break the mould! Having your ceremony between 8 am and 1030am is a great way to guarantee an empty beach. This is a non traditional way to kick off the celebrations but with the ceremony out of the way you can chill out and make the most of your incredible day. Some of the great advantages of doing this are: you will beat the Australian hot and harsh sun and enjoy some champagne for breakfast!

  2. Late afternoon between 3pm and 5pm: this option will provide more time to get your hair and makeup done, and this is one of the traditional options. The light is a less harsh during this time of the day as the sun starts to go down.

  3. Sunset wedding 5pm onward. One of the most important things to keep in mind is that the ceremony could go a bit over the expected time and therefore reduce the time you will have for Bridal portraits. If you decide to go down this path I would suggest to do a First look and with this intimate moment before the wedding you can include some family formals that will then allow you to run away for bridal portraits after the ceremony.

So what time will your beach wedding be? Have you decided on your location yet? Don’t forget to check on the permits and legislation in your area: here is a blog post if you are considering to have your wedding in Melbourne Bayside or St kilda.

Do you have a dream beach to get married at? Maybe I should get a list happening!
