Your wedding venue is one of the biggest expenses of your day and therefore the one decision that will determine a lot of the other components of your wedding day. Once you book your day, you will see how the other parts will start to fall into place and your day will start taking shape.

Before you start the process of short-listing venues we have compiled a list of questions that you should consider asking them directly or look for the answers when reading the details of the venue. The best place to start is by doing a list of the non-negotiable items of your wedding day: is it a vibe (industrial, minimalist, rustic, boho…) is it a location or is it the way your day will run? Once you have these items you will be able to start narrowing your selection.

 Questions to ask your wedding venue:

  • Will you provide a day of the wedding coordinator?

  • Are we able to work with vendors that are not included in your favourite vendors list?

  • What are the items that are considered additional from your packages?

  • What rooms do we have access to and until what time will these rooms available to us?

  • Do you have a sound system we can use or do we have to provide our own?

  • Are we able to set up decorations ourselves or do we need to have wedding vendors to do this on our behalf

  • Will my guest have to order drinks at the bar or is there a service direct to the table?

  • What are the options in terms of serving meals to our guests? Is it an alternate dish or a fest?

  • Are there options to use different configurations in regards to the seating arrangements in your wedding venue?

  • How long before the ceremony would I have to set up additional decorations myself?

  • How long do you recommend for the photographer to stay at your venue?

  • Are there any locations that are used for night wedding photography?

  • Are there options to have photos taken around your wedding venue or do we have to go somewhere else? Do you have any locations you could recommend in your local area?

  • Do you have any easels that we can borrow to put our welcome sign or seating chart on?

  • Are we able to change the timings on the running sheet?

  • What time do we have to come back to take the decorations down?

  • Is there parking available for our guests?
